August 8, 2010 ~ Presidents Message

Good morning everyone,

What a turn out last night! Nearly 65 members attended our meeting held at Texas Land & Cattle in Arlington, TX to hear Sharon Clute from Eland Energy speak on the exciting topic of Gas Balancing. Sharon’s presentation was packed with numbers and was both entertaining and educational.

I would like to take a moment to recognize our first timers, Victoria Molina and Miranda Littlefield, both with XTO Energy, Inc. Welcome and thank you for coming! Remember that if it is your first time, your meal is on US! So, please encourage your fellow members to attend.

Before sitting down to dinner, I had the wonderful opportunity of presenting our two scholarship winners with a small gift and a check for $500 each. Unfortunately, David Granado, one of our recipients, was ill. But, his mother, Laura Granado was on hand to accept on his behalf. Chase Hasson was the second recipient and was accompanied by his mother Marsha Hasson. David Granado was sponsored by acting member Leticia Giron-Garza and Chase Hasson was sponsored by Donna Bell. For more information on our winners, please refer to the article in our most recent newsletter!

Prior to the wonderful dinner, myself and eleven other Board members met to discuss the behind the scenes issues that keep our organization running. Here are a few notes:

· Deadline for articles for our next Newsletter is October 20th
§ Angela Korthauer will write an article on the behind the scenes of Institute
§ Joyce Andrews will continue with another "Who’s Who" member
§ Vickie Coles will write an article over the Unclaimed Property Class at Institute
§ Jeremy Black will write an article about a first timer’s experience at Institute
§ Kelsi White will look for bullet points to include in a new section called "Did you know…"
**Please feel free to submit legislation and other fun State specific facts on Oil & Gas to Krista Fletcher for this section! We would love our members to contribute! Email Krista_fletcher@xtoenergy.com **

· We are currently sitting at 155 Total members. Since our last meeting we have had 22 new members join!
§ Karen Albritton will be cross-referencing the membership list that was used to mail directories with the newer members to determine who still needs a directory. These newer members will be the first to receive our welcome packet consisting of a welcome letter from me, a directory, and a DALWORTH lapel pin.

· The Directories are complete and Cameron (who volunteered to design our cover) was given a monetary gift for his services

· The website is hopping with Job Postings; A lot of updates so check it out! www.dalworth.org

· Chuck Keller presented three choices for a new sound system for the meeting but they were all from Amazon.com; a suggestion was made to check out buy.com to compare prices; an official vote will be made at the November 2nd Conference call **If you have suggestions on a small, portable sound system please let Chuck now at ckeller@compassroyaltymanagement.com **

· Vickie Coles and Hanna Webster were selected to be sponsored by DALWORTH to attend Institute

· A $500 donation was sent to NADOA for Institute and thanks to Angela Korthauer, our organization will be mentioned in the magazine as a donator monetarily and for goody bags

· Whistle, key light, compasses were ordered as good bag favors

· Our next meeting was rescheduled from September 8th to the 22nd and will be held over lunch at Compass Royalty in Addison, TX

· The Holiday Party will be December 1st at Texas Rangers Baseball Stadium in the Hall of Fame Suite
§ $40 to attend and will include: Free tours of the ball park and Autographed items for the raffle and dinner

· Carol Pearson will be discussing next year’s Board positions with each current member to determine who wishes to stay on the Board and who would like to step off
§ Regardless of whether or not a person chooses to stay, only Director positions are automatically held for a second term (all were elected last year to serve two years); all other positions may be open
§ Ballots must be out by the end of October
**If you are interested in participating on the Board, please contact Carol Pearson at cp9@ntrs.com

Lastly, we are attempting to set a schedule of meetings for next year that will be the most appealing to our membership. Thus far we have held meetings in Grapevine, Arlington, Fort Worth, and the next meeting will be in Addison. At the December meeting we will be passing out ballots for you to choose your favorite location. If you’d like to be heard, plan to attend!!

Thank you for taking the time to read through this email and become more involved in our organization. I look forward to seeing you all next month! As always, please feel free to send me any comments, questions, or concerns. Have a wonderful day!

August 8, 2010 ~ DALWORTH Newsletter
July 12, 2010 ~ Presidents Message

Good afternoon everyone!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. If you were not able to attend our meeting on Friday, you missed a wonderful speaker, Ms. Kathleen Urbis of XTO, who spoke on Geology and "licking rocks". Look for a summary of her speech in our next newsletter. Speaking of newsletter, we passed out our most current issue which was packed with information. This was probably our most extensive newsletter yet.

I would greatly appreciate you taking the time to read it as we have implemented new article ideas and have spent some time on it to ensure that it meets your needs. New articles include a summary of our Board Meeting minutes so as to better connect the membership to the Board. We are hoping that by including this you will know more of what goes on behind the scenes. Also, there is a summary of our Spring Seminar which was one of the most successful to date.

Whether or not you choose to read the entire newsletter, I'd like you to read the first article as it speaks to some changes we'd like to see implemented for 2011. These changes regard meeting times and locations. There have been people voicing a desire to move the location out of Grapevine to possibly I-30 as well as people voicing the desire to move to lunch meetings instead of evening meetings. Your opinion is of great value. To make sure you are heard, please visit our website at www.dalworth.org and click on the contact button at the top right side. This will bring up a feedback form on the bottom left. Complete this form and submit it. If you wish to remain anonymous, only enter your comment and click submit.

Thank you for your commitment to this wonderful organization. I look forward to see you more of you at our next meeting in August!

Have a wonderful day,

April 19, 2010 ~ Presidents Message

Good afternoon everyone,

Thank you to all who attended our DALWORTH meeting last Tuesday at Joe’s Crab Shack in Grapevine! It was a great success with 41 members and guests in attendance including the following first timers:

Holly Rhoades Comstock Resources, Inc.

David McMinn Independent

Brittany Morris Northern Trust

Tanya Ward Denbury Resources Inc

Clayton Beatty Cobra Petroleum

I’d also like to thank Mr. Dan Robinson of Petro Hunt LLC who gave a most riveting and educational speech on the Fundamentals of Petroleum Refining. All of the Chemistry involved is just mind blowing! He took us through the entire process from the ore in its most basic form through the various end results of oil, propane, methane, diesel, etc.

Before the dinner and speaker began, the Board members and I met for an hour and half to discuss business items. After approving the minutes and Treasurer’s report, we moved on to discuss our Newsletter publication. It was decided that we will publish the 2nd one of the year after our Spring Seminar, May 12th, then a 3rd after the NADOA Institute, and our last one after the Holiday meeting in December. We would love to publish more; however, we want to encourage people to check out the website as it will be the most updated place to find information. We plan to include articles covering the speaker from last night, the seminar, the scholarship award, and some other interesting articles relating to news in the Industry. Of course, we will also include our new “Who’s Who” section and the Birthday/Marriage/Birth Corner. Please feel free to submit articles as well. We love to publish from as many different members as possible. Submission should be made to krista_fletcher@xtoenergy.com.

Beyond this topic, we formally agreed to continue offering the free meals to first time attendees. We also have decided to continue our outreach program by mailing personal thank you notes to our speaker and new attendees after each meeting. New members should be officially receiving welcome packets as well.

Last, we decided to purchase a new sound system as the one we have is broken and the one we have been using actually belongs to one of our Board members. Chuck Keller will be researching prices and looking for a good product for under $300. If you have any ideas, please contact him at ckeller@compassroyaltymanagement.com

Before I sign off, I would like to personally thank those of you whom I had a chance to speak with at the meeting regarding ideas on how to make DALWORTH a more successful organization. Your ideas were excellent and I’m very excited to present them to the other Board members so that we may further discuss them at our next meeting.

Also, do not forget about our two (2) $500 scholarship awards we are offering this year. Information and applications are available on our website and the deadline to submit them is April 30th. If you would like an application now, please email Vicky Coles at vickie.coles@pxd.com. Note, we have changed the requirement from immediate family to any family member, this includes in-laws and step relatives.

Our next meeting will actually be the Spring Seminar on May 12th. Details will follow soon but please mark your calendars! Compass is graciously hosting it again and our speakers cover a very wide range of topics. It should be a very educational and fun day!

Thank you again to those who took the time to attend our last meeting and to everyone for reading this letter. Hopefully I will see many of you next month! Have a wonderful day!
