Good morning everyone,
I just wanted to send an email out to everyone to thank those who attended our first Association meeting on Tuesday! What a successful evening. We had 56 members and guests in attendance. My hope is that we keep this number up and growing!
I would like to especially thank the following people who attended for the first time. As you all know, if it's your first time, the dinner is on us!
Keith Lowell with Aerotek
Myra Martin with Comstock Resources Inc
Cindy Nuffer, Independent
Crystal Clark with Bennett with Midroc Operating Co
Myra Overton with Southwest Petroleum
I would also like to thank Ms. Carolyn Dean our NADOA 2010 President for speaking to us about the importance of NADOA. She gave a wonderful speech on how interesting the industry is and the importance to educate ourselves on every facet. NADOA is an excellent tool to use. She also encouraged everyone to get involved as this is our organization and the more we put into it the more we shall receive. Lastly, she announced that this year's Institute would be held October 13-15 at the Hyatt Hill Country Resort and Spa in San Antonio and showed a wonderful video of the resort.
Before every dinner and speaker presentation, your Board meets for about an hour to an hour and half to discuss how to make the organization the best it can be for everyone. We also discuss the standard items and issues it takes to simply keep it running. After each meeting, I will send out an email similar to this one to keep you informed on what is going on behind the scenes.
We began by approving the minutes from last meeting and the current treasurer's report. Next, we discussed the Newsletter we are hoping to have out to you by the end of the Month. Krista Fletcher is working very hard to revamp it and make it something new and exciting. There will be a section announcing new members, a corner for births & marriages and birthdays, possible job openings, a letter from me, and a new section by Joyce Andrews called "Who's Who". Hopefully you have all received a questionnaire that was emailed to you and it was also available at the meeting. We really want everyone to get to know each other a little better so that we can strengthen the networking opportunities. If you have not received one, there is a copy attached to this email. Please complete it, even if you only answer a few questions, and email it toandrews@southwestpetroleum.com. We would love to feature a few members on each newsletter. If you have any ideas for articles and would like to write one, we would love to include it. Please send it to Krista at krista_fletcher@xtoenergy.com by next Tuesday.
Keep your eyes out for an email from Krista Fletcher asking everyone for their birthday. Do not fear, we are only asking for month and day! Not only do we want to recognize you in the newsletter, but as part of our initiative to better connect the organization to its members, we would love to send you a birthday card. Another item we discussed in regard to membership is the idea of a welcome packet to new members. Each new member who joins will receive a current directory, Dalworth pin, and a letter from me welcoming them to the organization. This year is all about you and we really hope to go above and beyond to make you feel a part of this organization!
There were other ideas we brainstormed as well on how to accomplish this goal, but we would love to hear from you. If you feel there is something missing or something that you would like to see changed, now is the time. Please contact me with any opinions you may have, be it good or bad, and I will make sure you are heard! My email address is kelsi_white@xtoenergy.com.
Before I sign off, I would like to remind you about the scholarship opportunity we offer each year. Dalworth will be awarding two $500 scholarships to either a graduating senior or student in college taking at least 12 hours. Applications will be available on our website very soon and the deadline to submit them is April 30th. If you would like an application now, please email Vicky Coles at vickie.coles@pxd.com. Also, if you missed the opportunity to attend this past meeting, our next one will be Tuesday, April 13th at Joe's Crab Shack in Grapevine, TX. Keep your eyes out for the meeting notice and encourage your fellow co-workers and friends to attend!
Thank you for taking the time to read this note. On behalf of the Board, we appreciate your desire to be a part of this organization and look forward to serving you as we take steps toward strengthening our local chapter.
Have a wonderful day, stay safe in this weather, and I'll see you in two months!
Yours truly,
Kelsi White - President
